Ashley East, the Fort Myers woman charged with killing an Army soldier in 2007 in a North Fort Myers crash, is scheduled to go to trial April 27.
East, 26, faces 10 charges related to the death of Army Staff Sgt. Danny Beougher, who was killed Dec. 8, 2007 on Hancock Bridge Parkway.
The most serious charges East faces are leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and DUI manslaughter. Most of the rest of the charges relate to leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.
Beougher was visiting family for the holidays and was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Hancock Bridge Parkway around 8:45 p.m. Dec. 8, 2007. Near Moody Road, a Ford F-350 crossed the median, plowed down a tree, and crashed into the Cherokee, causing extensive damage and killing the Iraq War veteran. His wife, Lauren, was critically injured in the accident.
