2008 Make a Difference Winning Essays and Thank Yous
2008 winners were selected from more than 50 applicants in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Glades, Charlotte and DeSoto counties.
They volunteered time and money for the numerous community organizations and causes so critical to the area’s welfare, including Special Olympics, Salvation Army, Big Brother/Big Sisters, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Abuse Counseling and Treatment, feeding the homeless, road and beach cleanup, stocking food banks, visiting nursing homes, collecting holiday presents for the needy and contributing to the fight against world hunger and poverty.
Applications were based on written essays submitted by graduating eighth- and twelfth-grade students. Members of the firm awarded 17 high-school and 9 junior-high school students with framed certificates at their school graduation ceremonies. Winners also were invited to join the firm at a summer luncheon and received U.S. Savings bonds.
