Read Across America
Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner returned to Colonial Elementary School on March 6 to help close out Read Across America Week, a nationwide in-school reading event sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA). Now in its 18th year, Read Across America promotes student literacy in school districts across the country with whimsically bookish activities that kick off on March 2—Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
Attorneys and staff from the Firm’s Community Outreach Project read Seuss classics and other children’s books to captive audiences in multiple classrooms, spanning from kindergarten to 3rd grade. They also passed out goodie bags to the students, complete with coloring books, pencils, and healthy clementines. The young learners had a blast, and so did our volunteers, who received more hugs, smiles, and thanks than they could count!
Can you read between the lines? Our visit to Colonial Elementary was a big hit!
