Fun Run
The Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner Community Outreach Project made its way to Colonial Elementary School for their annual “Fun Run” on February 13! We were serving up drinks to thirsty 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who had just finished the school’s mile-long mini-marathon. The surrounding road was closed off and manned by officers from the Fort Myers Police Department, who lent their support to the young runners with cheers and whistles.
Over 300 students ran the Fun Run on a beautiful Friday morning, including a determined 4th grader who, although visually impaired, was able to finish the race with the help of his friend. The students were accompanied by some parents and teachers who did their best to keep up, and we were waiting at the finish line to wet their whistles and put some smiles back on their exhausted, bedraggled faces. A great time was had by all.
